Author Boxes - Questions

Hi,

  1. as I understand author boxes are a theme specific feature?
  2. If the theme supports authors is there anything extra to activate in the settings to make them appear? Or is that handled in the code?
  3. If the post is a paid post with a public preview, the author box than still appears below the “sign up” Section?
