To enhance the visual consistency and usability of cards, we’re making changes to the default styles of certain cards.

### What’s changing

We’re updating the default styles for the following cards:

- Bookmark Card
- File Card
- Audio Card
- Product Card

These cards will now have a white background and a sans-serif font by default. Previously, the background was transparent, and fonts were inherited from themes.

### What does this mean for you?

The change aims to make these cards look good on any background color and to provide a consistent, “embedded” look across all themes. This update is especially important for themes supporting dark mode, as the default white background might not blend seamlessly.

### What you can do

If you want to maintain your theme’s unique look and feel, you can still [override](https://ghost.org/docs/themes/content/#editor-cards) the default background color and fonts in your themes. This allows you to adapt the new changes to fit within your theme’s design.

### When is this change rolling out?

These updates will be part of the release that goes out this Friday, 23 August 2024.

### Questions?

Drop them in the thread below!

Thank you,
Zimo
