@jannis The lifetime plan is sorely tempting. I’m very interested in the work the Ghost team has been doing around ActivityPub, so I’m wondering if you’ve looked into it at all, and if you think MagicPages might support it once it’s generally available?
Yeah, it should be available. Once Ghost 6 is out, it will probably take a bit of time, since it looks like a few external things need to be configured, but the idea is that Magic Pages supports all Ghost features ![]()
A post was split to a new topic: Magic Pages Outage
I wanted to give a quick update here, since not everybody is aware of the Magic Pages status page: status.magicpages.co
Currently, there is a bigger outage. It, unfortunately, affects all sites hosted on Magic Pages.
I have identified what the issue is now, and am working on a fix. However, this will still take around an hour or so to be fully deployed.
For more updates, also have a look here, since this is where I will be posting more on the progress (and yes, this is a good learning about establishing a channel that is not hosted on my own infrastructure – unfortunately, the status monitoring tool I am using is useful in that regard): Jannis Fedoruk-Betschki (@jannisfedorukbetschki@mastodon.social) - Mastodon
@jannis , I’ve parked this post on a separate thread for the moment, to make it a little easier for anyone looking for it. I’ll drop it back on the other thread when you’ve got things sorted out in a bit. (Update: I did that. So you can ignore the bits below about moving threads…)
Hang in there. Server outages are no fun. Been there, got that t-shirt.
You haven’t really run servers until you’ve had a server company decide to go out of business and take the servers you’re renting from them HOME from the co-lo facility, thus making it impossible to move client content except slowly and one at a time across home-grade DSL. (And this was in the '00s, when internet speed mostly sucked. I spent several days retrieving client data that they were supposed to have backed-up but hadn’t.) There’s a reason I don’t run servers any more. ![]()
Thank you, Cathy – didn’t want to spam with another thread ![]()
Things are more or less back to normal now. Around 95% of all sites are abck online. The last 5% need some manual attention – mostly due to migration locks or similar things.
Will grab some food (guess who skipped lunch
) and then deal with the rest.
Thank you for your patience and the kind words I received from all sides.
@Cathy_Sarisky, I think it’s ready to be merged back ![]()
I’m currently testing two hosting providers and really like the backup options and transparency offered by MagicPages. I wanted to ask, are there any existing or planned features that can clean up unused images from the content folders? Either manually or with something like GitHub - ghostboard/ghost-purge-images: CLI tool to display & purge the uploaded images, video and audio files that currently are not used in any post, page or meta data ? Just wondering since I’ve uploaded the wrong files a few times and read here on the forums that ghost just keeps them saved foreverrr and it would be needed to delete them manually… but I couldn’t find anything in the mp FAQs.
Glad you’re enjoying Magic Pages so far!
I currently no plans for something like this, no. I have vaguely thought about adding SFTP, which could solve this to a certain degree, but this is not something that would come any time soon.
The new Social Web/ActivityPub in Ghost is now available as beta on Magic Pages:
Code-wise, this is exactly the same that’s also running on Ghost(Pro) right now. A handful of people are already using it on Magic Pages, and quite honestly…I personally enjoy it a lot.
Kudos to the Ghost team. The ActivityPub repository looks daunting at first, but once everything clicked, it was quite quick to set up. Write up on that will follow in the next few days ![]()
You meant now available? :)
Lol. The worst kind of typo ![]()
That’s why I asked. ![]()
Another quick update on two small additions (this time without typos?
).
Last week, I silently made a small change to the Starter plan of Magic Pages that has been requested many times – also in this thread.
There is now an add-on available that opens the option for custom themes on the Starter plan for $2.50/month ($25.00/year or $75.00 one-time on the lifetime Starter).
In addition to that, I have just finished a completely new feature: Email Forwarding. If you don’t have your own email hosting set up, you can now use Magic Pages and the integrated Mailgun infrastructure for that to receive replies to your newsletters:
Ghost 6 is available on Magic Pages as of this morning
![]()
Both Social Web and Traffic Analytics are available on all plans, with no additional cost.
Now all I need is an idiots guide to ActivityPub … because I’m an idiot
.
I was wondering what you’d do with Traffic Analytics and this is amazing. I can cancel my external analytics subscription now! Thanks @jannis for this update and to the Ghost team for Ghost 6. I can’t wait to explore everything.
Great job. Basic plan 5.25€ and custom themes addon 2.20€= 7.75€.
Unbeateable price.
If anyone’s seriously considering Ghost Hosting RIGHT NOW, MagicPages has 8 Lifetime Slots available!
SNAG IT NOW! I have personally used his services in the past and NOTHING beats it!
Hey everyone!
It’s been a while since I gave a more detailed update about what’s going on at Magic Pages, so I just published a bit of an outlook on the 2026 roadmap:
Thank you for all the ongoing trust and support!
Big update on Magic Pages today. Quite frankly, probably the biggest single day of changes since launch. I wanted to give you a quick rundown – with the full post on changes here:
tldr (well…probably still too long
):
We’re a team now. Sviatoslav joined in February for support (many of you may have already chatted with him), and Mariia is joining today for brand and marketing. Magic Pages is no longer a one-person operation, and we’re switching from “I” to “we” accordingly.
New brand identity. New logo, new colours, new everything. Mariia handled the brand strategy, and we hired a brand design studio to do the design work. It’s been in the works since October. I personally fell in love with it the first time I saw it.
One plan going forward. The Starter plan is gone. After 1,200+ sites we learned that artificial limits (no CDN, no custom themes) just created confusion without helping anyone. The Pro plan stays at EUR 13/month. Full CDN, any theme, full API/integrations access, ActivityPub, native analytics. Everything included. Existing Starter customers keep their plan and pricing.
New domain verification tool. We now have a cool widget that auto-detects DNS providers and shows tailored step-by-step guides for the 32 most-used providers on Magic Pages. A one-click setup is available when providers offer it.
Lifetime plans are now dynamic. The availability of lifetime plans is calculated based on platform health instead of a fixed monthly number. Fewer slots, but more sustainable.
Infrastructure migration complete. The Kubernetes-to-Docker-Swarm migration is done. All sites are on the new stack.
Roadmap redesigned. There is now a new kanban-style overview of our roadmap and changes at magicpages.co/roadmap to make it easier to follow what’s happening and when.
Happy to help if anything needs clarification ![]()
