I am using Ghost to host a serialized webnovel. I want to have NSFW side stories, but I know I can’t host them on Ghost. I have a Substack I created for this webnovel before deciding to use Ghost instead. I have discovered I can link to a Substack draft and put that in a paywalled Ghost post. However, I am afraid to risk Stripe cancelling me over this. Is this a good workaround or not?
I am looking at other Ghost sites and I see people using Ghost to host erotica. What is the deal with this?
Ghost is essentially free and open source software. You can use that to publish any content you want.
However, if you don’t host Ghost yourself (= you pay someone to host Ghost for you) they will have additional terms and conditions on what type of content they support. That’s mainly down to the legal exposure they are willing to take.
That also goes for any server provider in the case you’re self hosting. Some of them might also have terms and conditions that restrict certain types of content.
And then, additionally, if you want to use other services that are connected to Ghost – like Stripe – they have their own terms and conditions under which they can be used.
