# Nodejs incompatible message

I had Ghost running locally with no problems then started getting messages about incompatible Node. I followed directions here to try to fix with no luck. [Supported node versions for self-hosted installs of Ghost](https://ghost.org/docs/faq/node-versions/)

I wiped everything and started over and still getting the messages, see screengrab. I tried installing all the different supported versions of node and get the message they are installed and running then when I go to re-install Ghost every time I get the message installation failed because node version is unsupported. Please help a frustrated Ghost newbie. WTAF is going on.

You need at least node 12.22.1 due to some security updates 🙂

ok thanks good to know but I got the same message with 14 I tried all the supported versions on this page. [Supported node versions for self-hosted installs of Ghost](https://ghost.org/docs/faq/node-versions/)

Message: Ghost v4.12.1 is not compatible with the current Node version.

Debug Information:  
OS: Ubuntu, v20.04.2 LTS  
Node Version: v14.15.0  
Ghost-CLI Version: 1.17.3  
Environment: development  
Command: ‘ghost install local’

For node 14 you need at least 14.16.1
