Hey gang.

Looking to move to a ghost from Wordpress for my main blog. I will be self hosting on a VPS. From what I can tell in the documentation, there is no need for a KVM VPS to run ghost? Is that correct?

I know with Discourse, a KVM VPS is needed due to the Docker requirements.

Cheers

Hey there 👋

It shouldn’t really matter, as long as you can get MySQL, Node and NGINX installed, you should be fine. I don’t think any of the components are affected by the underlying virtualization tech is involved :)

If needed, here’s the step-by-step guide to install Ghost:

> **[How to install & setup Ghost on Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04, 20.04 or 22.04](https://ghost.org/docs/install/ubuntu/)**
>
> A full production install guide for how to install the Ghost professional publishing platform on a production server running Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04, 20.04 or 22.04.

Thanks - I will get a cheapie OVZ then. I have installed Ghost a bunch of times, so it should be straight forward assuming no virtualization checks in the installer.

Cheers,
