That’s a setting now. Go to Settings > Newsletters, open the newsletter, then the Design tab. Under Body there’s a Links option where you can pick a custom color instead of the accent color, and choose underline, regular or bold. If you want it to look like plain browser links, set it to something like #0000EE with underline.
If you don’t see that option you’re on an older Ghost, it came in 5.126. Which version are you running?
Hey, thanks rlemon! I’m running the latest version of Ghost. I didn’t modify this setting because I assumed it would mess up either the dark or light mode version of my newsletter, which is why I’d like for it to use the default browser color for hyperlinks, so that it works for both… but perhaps I’m mistaken?
Email doesn’t really have a browser default. Ghost always writes an explicit color on the links, it’s just the accent color unless you change it. So switching it won’t make things worse for dark mode, it’s the same mechanism either way.
Dark mode in email is mostly out of your hands anyway. Gmail and Outlook invert or adjust colors themselves, Apple Mail leaves them alone. What helps is picking a mid-tone that reads on both white and dark grey, something like #2563EB, and keeping the underline style on so links don’t depend on color alone. Then send yourself a test and check it in Gmail dark mode, that’s the worst case.
Oh ok, I didn’t know all that! Thanks a bunch that’s very helpful!
