Cache-Control header and Gzip compression

Ghost has caching and gzip enabled by default as far as I know.
Should I put “Cache-Control” header in my reverse-proxy setting also, or forget it?
Should I use gzip on my reverse-proxy too alongside Ghost’s compression?
