Click rate for non emailed posts?

Hey y’all.
I run a local newsletter/blog that covers the local North Bay music scene north of SF. I send out a weekly email with show recommendations, news, ect…

I also do a series of long reads that are not directly sent to the subscribers of my list. Those long reads are usually interviews, profile pieces or some kind of show previews for upcoming events.

I share a number of links through those Long Reads that are not emailed to my members. The email lists have a clear way to see the click through rates of the emails, but the non-emailed postings does NOT.

Is there a way to see the click through rate of those postings I’m not sending out to the list? I’d love to see who is clicking through these long reads to the events pages, potentially buying tickets to the upcoming events.

If not, is there a workaround? Perhaps I set up a small email list that only sends to me, and then I can see the click rate? Something like that? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Click tracking only works inside the email, on email clients. Ghost converts the links in email content with its own urls to be able to track clicks to them. But when you open the post in the browser, it’s always the link you just put on it, to tracking proxy. So even if you email the post, if your member opens the post in browser then clicks a link, you don’t see that click in your numbers.

There are some analytics tools count outbound links (Plausible for example) that you can use. But this will not give you the member name who clicks the link. Only some numbers like click count or visitor count.
