Code Editor Help for Redirects Yaml File

Can anyone suggest what code editor I need to put together my 301 redirects for the yaml file. Free ideally or at best very cheap. Not done this before in Ghost. Thanks.

I personally use Sublime.

Literally anything you already have. On windows, notepad works fine.

If you’re going to do more work, I like vscode, but for one redirects file, I’d use whatever is built into your system for txt files.

Brilliant. Thanks Cathy.

OK, so I’m stuck again. I’m using TextEdit on Mac, but it saves the file as redirects.yaml.rtf file and the download file from Ghost Labs is a JSON? Why not a Yaml? Are Ghost trying to make life hard for us?

I just don’t know how or where to upload the 301 list I’m making back to Ghost.

I need a better code editor than what I’m using.

I’m a designer not a developer. Go figure!

Please explain to me in simplest terms because I don’t get it.

Will TextEdit give you the option to save as a text file? (Not rtf. That’s no good.) then you could rename after saving.

Don’t fink so. Not to worry, it’s 2.30am here in Scotland, so I’ve just emailed Support. Such a time suck, but I’m learning so all good!

Googling RTF to YAML Converter to see if I can find anything … tried a few but no luck. Will keep trying.

Found this … :upside_down_face: Best YAML Formatter Online: Advance YAML Formatter

I’ll wait till the site is out of password and take a look .

I put in what I had and it spat out a yaml file. Might be a wee piece of pure gold. Who knows.

But it’s past 3am now and so at least I might have something to get up in the morning for.
