Core Web Vitals are Failing - Considering Shift to Ghost

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out for advice and insights from those who have experience with both WordPress and Ghost. My WordPress site has been running extremely slow lately, and my core web vitals are failing, which is impacting my SEO performance. URL is (removed)

After researching, I’ve identified several potential issues:

  • Too many plugins: I have a lot of plugins installed, some of which might be unnecessary or poorly coded.
  • Heavy theme: My current theme is feature-rich but might be contributing to the slowdown.
  • Caching issues: I haven’t properly set up caching on my site.
  • Despite these challenges, I’m considering migrating to Ghost due to its reputation for speed and simplicity. However, before making such a significant change, I’d love to hear from anyone who has made this transition successfully.

What were your experiences moving from WordPress to Ghost? Were there any specific challenges you faced during migration? How did your site’s performance improve after switching?

Been there, done that … and pleased I made the change. I documented what was involved for me. That was written a year ago. Since then subscriber numbers are up 20%, I’ve got a healthy and increasing number of paying subscribers, I have much more time for writing and I’m enjoying the writing more.

Speed … I never got too worried about this, but Ghost is plenty fast enough and Jannis at MagicPages appears to have the caching well under control.

Responses from my readers are entirely positive.
