Do you have to use Facebook Description to store a podcast URL?

Hey all!

I set up a custom RSS feed a few months ago for my podcast, which is working fine. However, I’ve been noticing that when people share links of an episode, the Facebook Description url string is being used as preview text (on BlueSky and Discord, specifically).

Can I repurpose ANY description field on a post to store the URL, or does it need to be the Facebook Description field as stated in Custom RSS Feed Tutorial?

Alternatively, is there a different description field (Twitter, etc.) that will appear instead of the Facebook Description URL when I share links to my show?

There’s no specific reason it needs to be the Facebook description.

You might want to use the page specific code injection footer, but then you’ll have to remove it from the template.

I’ve got some code available that automatically updates that field, if you are uploading the podcast in a ghost card. GitHub - cathysarisky/podcast-labeler
