As part of setting up a lead magnet, I have a file that users will want to download. Currently, the tile is added as a file within a post.
- How do I ensure the download is only available to members (free).
- Am I going about this all wrong?
Make sure the post is locked to members, then only members can reach the content outside someone else sharing it outside.
Ghost doesn’t protect image or file links. Anyone with the file download link will be able to download it.
If you set the page that links to the file to members only (or paid members only), that’ll stop the link from being readily visible, but won’t stop it from being accessible if shared (or guessed – so pick an obscure filename for it).
If you need better protection, I’d look at any of the companies that let you sell digital downloads (sendowl, lemonsqueezy, etc), as they’ll have support for each member having a unique link, limiting the number of downloads, etc.
