Edit Email Preview Text

Hi team,

I’ve been trialling Ghost to move away from Substack and was wondering if there is a way to change the preview text in email notifications. For example, the top notification in the picture is from Substack and the bottom is from Ghost. I’d love for the notification from Ghost to only display the excerpt text “A. Zayn: This documentary makes an important contribution to the history of the Palestinian struggle.” and not the rest that follows it; “The Fleapit | The Fleapit No. 017 - ‘Stars of Orion’…

Any help?

Did you use “Excerpt” field on your post in Ghost? I believe excerpt field would be seen as the preview part.

I agree that it should be, but last time I checked, it wasn’t showing up as the preview consistently. (This was a couple months back, so it could have changed!)

I believe @muratcorlu is on to something here. You can tweak your newsletter layout and ask to show or not show any excerpt. So maybe you need to check your actual Newsletter settings and tick that in.

ps moving from Substack to Ghost will not disappoint you. You will love the editor and you will also really own your content which is not the case if one fall into the Substack Notes trap…

Hey, yeah the first part of the text is from the excerpt box, but then the preview keeps showing text beyond it (the title, header etc) whereas substack just ends at the excerpt
