Help! I'm lost! I cannot login to my Ghost Admin, can’t even get an email to reset the PW

Hi guys!

I’ve just set-up my blog on Ghost yet I cannot login to my Ghost Admin, can’t even get an email to reset the password.

Albeit having used (I believe!) the correct email address credentials

I’m now blocked and not sure what to do :)

FYI my website is

https://www.charlywargnier.com/, self-hosted in Digital Ocean.

Hey @Charly_Wargnier, are you still having problems? Could be that the installation hasn’t been set up quite right. Are you able to access your Digital Ocean droplet to see the configuration?

It was fixed. Though I just had a DDOS attack on my droplet now :frowning:

I am having the very same problem!
It worked fine for the past ten days and I’m logged out this morning.
I’m now unsure about my password.
I’m able to access my digital ocean droplet.
How did you resolve it?

Could someone please help me?

First check if there is SMTP enabled by checking at production.config.json file

I’m afraid I don’t follow. I am fully non-technical, but can follow instructions.

You have to login to your DO via ssh (you can follow this instruction how you can login How to Connect to Droplets with SSH :: DigitalOcean Documentation)

The you need to check where ghost is installed, It should be at the following directory

/var/www/ghost/

There you will get a file called production.config.json

Open the file & check for the "mail":

If thats setup to direct then you have to add your SMTP creds there & then Restart ghost
