Introducing Travio — a travel-focused Ghost theme for content-rich travel blogs

Hi everyone,

I’m happy to share Travio, a new premium Ghost theme I’ve been working on for travel blogs, magazines, destination guides, and experience-driven publications.

My goal with Travio was to build something that feels more like a complete publishing system than a basic blog theme — while still keeping it manageable inside Ghost.

Built around Destinations and Experiences

Instead of treating everything like a generic tag archive, Travio gives these two content paths a much stronger role across the site, helping readers browse travel content in a more natural and structured way.

A more curated homepage

The homepage is designed to feel editorial rather than auto-generated, with dedicated sections for destinations, experiences, latest stories, and additional tag-based sections.

Flexible post hero layouts

Travio includes multiple hero styles for posts, including video, gallery, slider, scrolling mosaic, wide image, split, and background-image layouts, so stories can feel more distinct and immersive.

Dedicated pages out of the box

It includes purpose-built layouts for key pages such as Articles, Archive, Videos, Authors, Tags, Destinations, Experiences, Contact, Membership, Sign In, Sign Up, and Subscribe.

Good support for content discovery

There are filtering and browsing features across important parts of the site, which can be especially useful as a publication grows.

Membership and newsletter ready

Travio is designed to work well with Ghost memberships, signup/signin flows, pricing pages, and newsletter subscription journeys.

Easy branding and navigation

It supports dark mode, accent customization, dropdown-style navigation, and structured footer/navigation behavior without needing a lot of manual code changes.

Performance-focused

I also put a lot of effort into speed, usability, and overall polish.

The Performance Score is dependent on the server and caching system you use.

Travio is mainly designed for travel publishing, but the overall structure can also work well for other content sites that benefit from two strong browsing taxonomies.
