Newsletter opt-in opt-out option out of Portal

Hi,

I have activated the Portal feature in order to have members register and subscribe to the newsletter. For locale reasons, I’m not using the Portal but a set of custom pages for member signup/signin/account as this solution allows me to have the member settings in another language than English.

Is there a way to display if a user is subscribed to the newsletter and a way to have them opt-in or opt-out as we can when using Portal?

The possibility to edit their email and also to delete their account would be nice. I know Portal offers that for the email. But can it be done outside of Portal?
Since it’s only free accounts, I do not have any Stripe set up.
