Time to say goodbye to Ghost

So here’s an update.

As said before my writing died on Substack. The inspiration completely vanished. So did the automatic feature of turning my posts in to speech that is built in in Substack.

Turns out that bit can become untrue from one day to the other. WTF!!!

So after lots of twists and turns, closing down one writing project, leading to readers I know in real life begging me to not stop I am officially up and running again, on GHOST!

I totally rebranded my niche site, started a complete new YouTube to go along with it and will pay the money to keep it going, and hope some of my readers would like to use the tip jar and or buy me a coffee.

From this I will also continue my search for a good TTS (I started a thread on that somewhere) that can turn my posts into sound files with not too much hazzle.

So there you go;

Ghost vs Substack 1-0

Beehiiv do audio newsletters. Convert Newsletter Readers to Listeners

That said, focus on the writing first because if that doesn’t convert, the audio is totally wasted.

Jumping platform for ‘features’ is not the answer.

Quality writing will trump any bell or whistle - every time.

Well that is not entirely true. If ones clients spend their days in an office with four walls it could be. But if ones readers are outdoorsy people, listening to the posts as a short format podcast if you’d like would help it grow.

My target group are outdoorsy people, so for me it has great value to turn my posts into sound files, and I am not a good enough narrator to do so. When I podcast, and or do event recaps, I never ever use(d) a manuscript.

That was not what I was referring to. Never mind. Good luck whatever. I was merely pointing out that Beehiiv can oblige you is all.

I truly appreciate the input but it cost close to 1000USD/year to be able to use that feature over there. Then is it much cheaper to continue with Ghost (world’s best editor), purchase an Eleven Labs subscription and upload to either Ghost or my podcast hosting.

After a lot of thinking, I have officially cancelled my Ghost Pro subscription and moved my site to another platform. The idea of paying 300 Euro per year for some additional features such as image and file size, plus the Ghost Pro support time has been starting to be too slow, became the final deal breaker for me. Most of all I will miss the editor, my snippets, and this forum. Have a good year everybody!

Would you mind elaborating which one?

I’m interested! Please share your setup with me!!

I am definitely not saying goodbye to Ghost. But I have switched my hosting from Ghost Pro to Magic Pages https://www.magicpages.co/ and I am delighted. I am no longer affected by any of the issues that Cowgirl brought up.
