Word count / character count for Asian languages + Translation of Ghost

Would it be possible to display the word count separately for different languages used in posts? I often include Japanese in addition to English, and I think the word count feature counts Japanese characters as one word each, even though they aren’t equivalent. Ideally it would display something like:

English: 100 words
Japanese: 24 characters

I’m also curious about how the translation of Ghost was proceeding. I’d be curious to help there however I can, as localization/translation is something I’ve been involved in for a while. As best I can tell, the crowd sourced translation project isn’t moving anymore?

Very cool. It looks like Japanese is well underway! I do think the support documentation will be critical. Is that part of the project at all?

And for word vs character count, would there be a way to get that feature considered?

All of the translation work is focused on the front end website. There’s not (yet) a project to translate the admin area or the docs.

There’s an ideas section of the forum that would be a good place to add your reading time suggestion.
