Manton Reece from Micro.blog calls for better interoperability of content and archives using the proposed .bar format:

This is why I proposed the Blog Archive format (.bar) back in 2017. It’s essentially a ZIP file with all the posts and images for your blog. It uses JSON and HTML. There is nothing in it that is specific to any one blog platform, but it’s easy to extend with your own data if needed.

Is this something the Ghost team is considering for future development?

This feels right at home with Ghost’s mission. Feels like a no-brainer.

This is the only reason I haven’t moved my blog to Ghost yet. The import feature simply doesn’t work for any of the methods I’ve tried. I’d love to export my .BAR from Micro.blog and import them into Ghost.
