Before moving into the next phase of my developing website, when I can hopefully attract a lot more visitors, I would like to change the domain name I currently use to a newly registered one having a more appropriate domain name that is currently used as the website title.
Can someone please explain how I do this and/or point me in the right direction for obtaining the HOWTO and ensuring keeping my current website content in place with the minimum of down-time?
Many thanks in advance.
That will depend on who is hosting your Ghost site.
Are you self hosting? Then you’d need to point the domain to your server’s IP and change the url configuration of your chosen installation method (Ghost CLI uses config.production.json, Docker uses environment variables).
If you’re using a hosted version of Ghost (you’re not managing your own server), your host should have instructions on what to do. Usually this involves setting up the domain in a customer portal and then receiving DNS records you need to add.
