Hey there :waving_hand:

We’re excited to introduce Essence, our latest Ghost theme.

It’s a simple theme with a post feed on the homepage. The main focus is the look: animated WebGL shader backgrounds, liquid glass cards, and sidebar navigation.

What’s included:

  • 24 animated WebGL shaders (Aurora, Plasma, Liquid Ether, Light Pillar, and more)
  • Liquid glass cards with blur and shading controls
  • Clean post feed on the homepage
  • Sidebar navigation on desktop, popup menu on mobile

You can try different shaders and card styles on the live demo.

P.S. Liquid Glass currently only works in Chromium (Chrome, Edge, Brave…). Safari/Firefox get a glass fallback instead. Open the demo in Chrome if you want the real refraction.

Hi! On first load, the background is black. I had to click the gear to get it to change.

Also, just an FYI, on recent Chrome, Windows 11, fairly beefy laptop, the scrolling is sporadically jerky.

It’s beautiful, but I suspect you have a bug or two to squish.

Hi Cathy, thanks for the report.

We’ll dig into the black background on first load. Pretty sure that’s a bug. And yeah, the effects got heavier than they should. With Liquid Glass on top, FPS can dip. We’ve mostly tested on MacBooks and it was fine there, but some effects still drop frames a little. Will go back through the code and optimize more.

Thanks for catching this. Started out wanting a simple theme, then got carried away with liquid glass and shaders :)
