I’m just curious to know
- When we can expect the release of Ghost 6.0
- What exciting new features it will bring to the table.
If anyone has any insider information or just general speculations, please feel free to share!

Probably the best fuel for speculation would be looking at the Github repo and the PRs (open and closed). But is that 6.0, or 5.100, or just idle experimentation that’s not going anywhere? No idea.
I am lowkey excited for v5.100.0
/cracking up/ Yeah, well, you can predict when THAT will arrive (unless pre-empted by 6.0)
I just want the darned analytics @John showed off, cause they be sweet looking…
The major feature under development is ActivityPub support.
It likely weeks away from a beta release of ActivityPub support and months before ActivityPub will be out of beta.
Me too, that was great.
6.0 will happen in 2025 - it will include analytics and activitypub :)
No firm dates or anything so far, but that’s what we’re working towards!
2025 is going to be a good year!
Thanks John, any possibility to see a new theme for Ghost 6.0 ? any preview.
Will the analytics be fully native or a tight partner integration?
Is there a date when ghost 6.0 would released?
Just discovered this. Does the analytics cover page views?
Waiting for the release be like
Let’s agree that we all market our blogs, newspapers, or whatever in some way here, and ActivityPub is honestly of little interest. I think we need more analysis and data on our websites and more ways to market them.
Alpha version is out already!
I’ve previously discussed some missing features in Ghost (like proper SSO options and native comments, which took years to implement).
But it’s also important to acknowledge when things are moving in a good direction
I tend to self-host most of my stuff because I enjoy having that control - it’s kind of what Internet was meant to be, in my point of view.
Ghost’s decision to support ActivityPub it’s a big deal and the main reason I’m happy to continue supporting their ecosystem.
Looking forward to seeing how it goes!
Analytics as in page views? So there will be no need for a third-party tool like Google Analytics?
Yes. I have tried it already (the code’s already there) on multiple instances. It works great and looks amazing.
Di I need to install it from the scratch or there is a suggested method to update to the 6.0 pre-release via ghost-cli
?
