Ghost stance on AI

Hi Ghost, I have opted to use Ghost to create a resource directory for projects that have decided not to use AI, as well I am using Ghost on a science related project, as well as a personal website.

Overall, I am really happy with using Ghost PRO and it provides some powerful features, tools, and community.

However, some of my visitors have pointed out that Ghost may be encouraging the use of AI and this leaves them disappointed/soured.

That being said, I must consider the future of my projects on Ghost.

So what is Ghost’s stance on AI?

Thank you for considering this question as I await to see what direction I should be taking with my projects.

You can see this in the GitHub repository. Should answer your question easily.

AI is a tool. It is useful.
I think people should worry about AI content instead. It’s bringing soullessness to the Internet.

Hi KBExit, does having guidance regarding the repository constitute Ghost’s encouragement of AI? I am looking for a more formal answer here because this is regarding the future of my projects with Ghost.

Due to the growing list of negatives regarding AI, myself and others have decided to completely avoid it. I can provide more reasoning if you’d like to hear it.

If this does mean Ghost supports the use of AI, then I will need to move away from using Ghost and won’t be recommending it to my peers, which would be sad because it has been a great platform so far.

I cannot speak for Ghost at all.
Claude has contributed to Ghost in the past:

I will be honest with you, you should move to onion sites. Search crawlers are basically IA crawlers those days. Forums are dying, almost no one put time into genuine writting, reading or searching anymore.

Everyone wants to be an Indie Developer Vibe Coding who ships The New Feature that Give Steroids to Your Agents.

Perhaps you remember the centinels on that movie. The resistance kept their strong inward, they were dark.

A local implementation of IA could be the middle ground.

As it seems this very important topic has been ignored by Ghost, I will be moving my projects away from Ghost and will not be recommending it to anyone in the future.

I wouldn’t say it’s ignored. The team is actively working. They just happen to open a forum for the general public. You can feel free to do what you want, but to publicly smear a brand seems counter productive and honestly low. You can just simply not include it on your list and move on. Good luck finding a replacement though, WordPress uses AI more and I don’t think there’s anything else that’s close and that’s actively being worked on as much as these two.

I remember when people were so against smart phones… Look at the world now.

“AI” use has become one of the most discussed topics regarding technology and with technology’s impact on human society this “AI” topic has become very, very important, historically important.

It very much matters where and how people decide to spend their time working with technology, and so it becomes super important for companies or organizations to provide a stance regarding AI when their customers or users are deciding to put their trust into their platform.

The stance on AI is a matter of trust and ethics. Just as how they may be free to ignore my inquiry, I am also free to state that a lack of response shows a lack of concern or a view that this issue may not be of such importance to them, and so instead of ignoring this myself as well, I am stating that I will be moving somewhere else, that’s not a smear, that’s a fact.

Before migrating to Ghost about 9 years ago I was using my own “blogging platform” which I created myself (and which is open sourced and available on GitHub). As it has no AI you and your visitors might find it useful.

(And right below the last comment is an AI button that says “Summarize.” )

I think there’s a difference between AI as a tool in the competent, responsible hands of a creator, and AI as a substitute for that creator.

Just my $0.02.
