Hosted Mailgun-to-SES bridge to send Ghost newsletters through your very own Amazon SES

I run my own shop and we build most of our shops tools with alot of help from AI, and I wanted to run an idea past the self-hosting people on here.

There are a lot of threads on here from people who want to send Ghost newsletters without being stuck on Mailgun. The usual answer is one of the open source Mailgun-to-SES proxies, which is a solid route if you like running another service, but not everybody does. It’s one more thing to patch and keep alive.

So I’m testing whether there’s interest in a hosted version. Basically it’s a drop-in bridge. You point the Mailgun settings in Ghost at our endpoint and the emails will go out through your own SES account instead. Opens, deliveries, bounces, complaints and suppressions will all be sent back into Ghost automatically, so you still get all the data you’d normally see.

Couple of caveats:

Self-hosted Ghost only, it doesnt work with Ghost (Pro)
You will need your own AWS account with SES production access

Now the pre-order part. Before I commit to running this long term I want to know if people would actually pay for it, so it would be $5 one-time pre-order that covers your first 30 days. If it works out, the plan is $9/month after that. It’s opt-in, and you won’t be charged again unless you subscribe. I’ll consider it a go if at least 3 people pre-order.

If it turns out to be something people would like, I could have it ready by December 1, 2026. If it doesn’t get 3 pre-orders by October 30, I’ll just forget about it and move on to something else. anyone that has paid would get a full refund if that happens.

feel free to ask questions. i look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Hello,

This is not a common type of business. What a world to live in!

Trying to understand the motivation: You need $15 to convince yourself to start a business? And why are you interested in this specific project? Do you already use Ghost for yourself and need to send your newsletters with AWS SES? Are you software engineer to judge AI output? Or do you just check if it just work?

I have even more questions but basically more details about your position and the motivation behind this would be more helpful.

Like i said, we are a small shop that uses AI to write tools that we have found there is a potential need for. I do not use Ghost, i use forums to find the pain points and see if I can fix someone’s issues. The $15 isn’t anything to do with with starting a business, we already have a business. $15 is to judge if there is any interest in what we are proposing. if not, we move on to something else.
As far as my credentials, i am retired. I put my time in at TSYS (Synovus) in the early 1990’s programming mainframe assembler. Then prior to y2k, I was hired at a bank where I converted their mainframe assembler into Visual Basic 6, i know, it was a long time ago and that was the best out there.

If there is any interest, we would then proceed to the next step of getting a beta together and working with the users to make sure it did “ease their pain”, whatever that may be. not trying to fix the world, just trying to keep my mind sharp while I enjoy being retired and hopefully creating something that pays for itself ANND helps another developer/user out.

A lot of questions are answered at https://sesbridge.cevict.ai/

Any other questions, ask away!

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
