Images & site load speed

Hi, I’m having an issue with the growing image sizes & amount that might affect the site load speed as it grows bigger.

I have read this post: Thumbnail images in the homepage postcard views of posts & created a Cloudinary account.

But is this method still applicable for the latest Casper theme which already has img srcset & responsive img sizes in place?

May I ask how you guys deal with images? Pagespeed insights is giving me around 40s & giving me advice on deferring off-screen images.

I use Unsplash images for most post feature images on Casper theme.

  • What version of Ghost are you using? 2.30
  • What configuration? Production
  • What browser? Chrome

Many thanks!

Hi there! Might be a good idea to download the latest version of Casper and install it for testing. By keeping your current edited theme you can switch between the two to compare image loading times.

It’s up to you how you want to handle images, I’d anticipate you’ll get some good results from the latest responsive image changes
