Is it possible to insert a summary of site comments on the homepage or any page for that matter? How much effort would this take? just trying to find ways to increase engagement but showing activity on the site.
What do you mean by “a summary”? If number of comments, that’s supported by handlebars (the theme language) currently, and some themes show it - docs here: comments - Ghost Developer Docs. If you want actual comments to appear, you could do that with some javascript. (There’s an endpoint for reading comments that you could use to get the data you want.) If you mean some sort of AI-based summary, you could run a scheduled cloud function that parses comments and writes a summary, that you then make available on Ghost somehow. (You’d need somewhere to host this that isn’t Ghost.)
If you can add more details, I might be able to offer better advice.
Thanks for the reply. I figured it may take some scripting. I’m thinking of something like a simple comments feed that shows the comment title, author, maybe a snippet from the comment. Perhaps showing the latest 5 comments. The idea being that it demonstrates that activity is happening on the site.
Yep. Can be done with javascript! I’d start by looking at the network calls the comments app is making when you load a page with comments on it.
