Anyone else have access to the Private Features? I have somehow unlocked it on one of my websites and I have to say, I AM LOVING THE NEW ADMIN UI!
Anyone can enable private features by [redacted], but they are private for a reason! Things can inexplicably break, functionality might be partially implemented, there’s no fixed timeline, and it might be scrapped in the end.
In the case of the new Admin experience, this is the core team migrating from Ember+React (Ember core + React components) to React+Ember (React core + legacy Ember components), to (I’m assuming) eventually React standalone (no more Ember!)
I understand, the features are really thoughtful though.
Weird. I don’t see the new admin experience as an option under Labs for either of my Ghost sites. I’m using Ghost Pro.
These are not public beta/lab features, but private alpha flags, mainly used for development.
They are not meant to be run in production and need explicit activation for testing.
Thanks @jannis
That makes sense.
Yeah, that was my bad. I listed it as a way to enable the new theme translation, before Murat pointed out a way to just get that feature enabled. (Thanks @muratcorlu !)
I do NOT recommend monkeying around with those alpha features, @KBExit . I spent months trying to figure out why content occasionally just disappeared from my self-hosted site. It wasn’t always. But occasionally, I’d just get nothing from a get request that had worked before and worked again after. I’d turned on a toggle in alpha features, out of curiosity to see what it did (which was nothing immediately obvious) and then immediately forgot it. Several hours later, a member of the dev team asked if I’d maybe had it on. D’oh. And at that point, the toggle wasn’t even still there, so I think I ended up manually removing it from the db.
Yeah, not recommended.
Thanks @Cathy_Sarisky.
