Recently, the New York Times launched a one-click integration with Apple Podcasts so that listeners could log in via a New York Times web integration to access “premium / subscriber” content. So if you clicked on content that was premium, you were asked to log in via nytimes.com. I did it, and it was super easy and fluid.
Does anyone know if this is a publicly available Apple Podcasts API that we could somehow integrate into Ghost or use with Ghost in any way? The dream would be to point users back to my Ghost instance directly from Apple Podcasts so that they could log in.
The key step is to authenticate and sync user information with Apple Podcasts, which requires backend API handling—something not possible with Ghost. A backend/cloud/workflow application is necessary to accomplish this."
Hi John — thanks so much for getting back to me! I haven’t forgotten about this, but there seems to be no way to log out / disconnect these things once they are connected, at least not one I can see. Let me see if I can try it on my wife’s phone later tonight or tomorrow.
But if anyone else in the community who is a New York Times subscriber can help out here who hasn’t connected with Apple Podcasts yet, it would be appreciated!
