do you use it instead of native newsletter feature in ghost ?

Great work @andreascreten!
Still waiting on feedback from the core team?

Wondering the same! We’re still shut out of Mailgun and can’t send newsletters

Hi @Ghost, @Kevin tagging you because the pull request that is being made looks really promising.

The title of the pull request might be a bit wrong, because it is actually more about writing an adapter and opens up to adding other SMTP-services as well (for European blogs this is an important step becoming GDPR-proof, that’s another discussion).

The great stuff is that the idea is becoming reality without costing core team effort ( :blue_heart: open source).

But from what I understand from @andreascreten, some input / feedback on the pull request from the core team would really help to progress.
Could you take a look at the PR and let know if this direction is something you agree with?

I noticed that there was an update from @ghost/@Hannah at the pull request.
Since not everybody might be following that, copy below:

Hey @peterpacket :waving_hand:

Really appreciate the intention here, and I can see you’re putting effort in so wanted to flag up right away - we wouldn’t merge this change from a single PR.

We’d want to put together a plan for how to make the two integrations play nicely together, a test plan for how we ensure it works, and we’d also need to discuss long term maintenance.

If this is something you’re committed to, then perhaps raise an issue with a plan?

Yeah, I think we’re all beating around the bush about what’s really going on here. There is it’s called gatekeeping self interest ($$$) on an “OPEN SOURCE” project? I think that’s called an oxymoron. I am a pro user myself, but I still don’t like that aspect because it just feels dirty and morally wrong. Other than that I love Ghost.
