Mysql-server FAIL

If you’re looking for some help, it’s important to provide as much context as possible so that people are able to assist you. Try to always mention:

  • What’s your URL?

blog.goodkarma.is
(redirected subdomain to AWS Lightsail instance where I’m installing Ghost- the redirect does work)

  • What version of Ghost are you using?
latest version of the CLI as via the Ghost website

  • What configuration?
I don’t know what this means

  • What browser?
I’ve used Firefox Developer and Chrome

  • What errors or information do you see in the console?

I have NO idea what I’m doing with setting up mysql server. My head is literally spinning from trying to figure out whether I should be using “root” as the sql_user and, if so, what password. I keep spinning around and around with uninstalling and re-installing because this NEVER works and the install always fails here:

:heavy_multiplication_x: Starting Ghost
A GhostError occurred.

Message: ER_ACCESS_DENIED_ERROR: Access denied for user ‘sql_admin’@‘localhost’ (using password: YES)
Help: Unknown database error
Suggestion: journalctl -u ghost_blog-goodkarma-is -n 50

Debug Information:
OS: Ubuntu, v18.04
Node Version: v8.15.0
Ghost-CLI Version: 1.9.8
Environment: production
Command: ‘ghost install’

Additional log info available in: /home/ghost-admin/.ghost/logs/ghost-cli-debug-2019-01-05T08_01_37_237Z.log

  • What steps could someone else take to reproduce the issue you’re having?

Be a total newbie who wants to setup a blog, not become a sys admin or mySQL expert!
