Pintura Stopped Working

My Pintura integration has stopped working. Specifically, the magic/edit icon that appeared at the top right of an image to allow editing is no longer there. I’m not certain if this was introduced with the ALT text toggle for images (entering a caption or alt text).

I’ve downloaded and installed the latest Pintura Ghost 8.100.4 package. Ghost is currently running 6.65. I’m not a developer, just an end user, so not much help with troubleshooting other than simply updating Pintura to the latest version.

Hi Casey! I don’t think the Pintura update is the problem. Ghost is moving its post editor to a new codebase, and Pintura support is being reconnected piece by piece — a fix that restores Pintura on feature images and social images was merged just this week. The edit icon inside image cards may simply not be wired up yet in your version.

A quick way to check: open a post’s feature image (or a tag’s image). If the Pintura edit button shows up there but not on images inside the post, it’s a Ghost issue and updating Pintura won’t change it — it should come back in a Ghost update.

Two quick things worth ruling out meanwhile:

  1. In Settings → Integrations → Pintura, make sure it’s still enabled and that you uploaded the JS and CSS files from the “Pintura for Ghost” package (not other files from the zip).
  2. Hard-refresh the admin (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R). Also note the icon never appears on animated GIFs or images hotlinked from external URLs.

If it’s still missing after a Ghost update, it’s worth reporting on GitHub so the team knows that the image-card case is still missing.
