Public pages for Network profile and Notes (ActivityPub)

Currently, the ActivityPub Notes published form Ghost don’t offer valid URLs to Fediverse readers, or anyone else in the WWW. While your profile and posts look ok for i.e. mastodon users from their Mastodon instance, if they (or yourself) want to obtain the original URLs to share your profile or your posts, they will be misled:

  • The link to the profile points to the main page of the Ghost blog, not to a public version of the Network profile page on /ghost/#/activitypub/profile
  • The link to the original location of any post points to a very ugly piece of code (example), giving the impression that your instance is broken, not to a public version of the corresponding /ghost/#/activitypub/notes/...

The pages already exist and they look pretty good, but they are only visible to the blog authors. The idea proposed is to have public links of these pages, that the blog authors and anyone else can share publicly.

All in all this is a very basic feature request. It could be considered a core piece of the Network / ActivitPub user experience. Instead, now these missing features create a serious limitation to blog authors (no way to share your profile or a specific Note with a simple URL) and confusion among the readers and followers of your Network / Fediverse activity who want to share it further using links.

There are a couple of attempts to circumvent this limitation with hacks:

There is also a request for Unified timeline for social web + Ghost posts , which could be a specific implementation to solve this problem. I believe it would require the building blocks described here first: a public profile and public links to notes.
