When someone subscribes to the blog, the confirmation mail goes to their spam. What can be done to prevent this?
I would try to use Mailgun. Never had any problem with that.

I just tried signing up and the message came straight to my inbox, no spam!
It’s hard to control what happens after the email leaves your server. You’ll want to make sure that you’ve got the appropriate mx, spf, and dkim records on your domain, but it’s still a bit out of your control.
