I am trying to create a relatively simple splash page that links to all of our different sites, like a directory. After looking at Ghost themes, I thought Ease seemed closest to what I wanted, but I am having a strangely difficult time making any changes to the main page.
I can add posts and pages, but nothing shows on the main page - even if featured. I feel like something is bugged out.
I would ideally like to add links to external sites directly on the main page, and not go through posts or pages. I have tried out just creating a separate page entirely and putting everything there, but then you lose all the styling of the theme…
Most themes are designed with homepages that typically showcase the latest posts.
Have you made any adjustments to your routes.yaml file that could be causing an issue with this on your site? The latest posts should appear on your homepage using the Ease theme.

This is a non-standard use case but since Ghost themes are flexible, you definitely could create a custom homepage.
This requires editing the HTML and CSS within your theme files, but you can also hire an Expert to help modify your theme :)
