It seems like users cannot download an invoice/receipt of their subscription on the hosted service, is that really so?
hey there, did you find a solution to this as i’m also looking for a way to send invoices/receipts for members who are running it through their companies?
Stripe provides a dedicated billing portal which allows customers to access invoices and update payment information.
We hope to integrate this more deeply into Ghost in future, but for right now you can find a custom link that you can provide to members to download their invoices, inside your Stripe Dashboard, here: https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/billing/portal
I just wanted to bump this thread - as well as running my own Ghost newsletter I’ve been subscribing to other people’s recently, and the fact that there’s no automatically available receipt is a real disincentive. I can claim the subscriptions as a business expense if I have a receipt, even something as basic as an email that says “thanks for subscribing, your subscription cost $XX and will last for a year.” Although ideally the billing history would be available online through the Account area. Having to email the author and hope I get a reply is a real drag, and it’s an issue other similar platforms don’t have.
100% agree! Ghost says it is built for publications and in many ways it is, but their billing/invoicing set up both for the publication and the reader is fully dependent on Stripe, which many times doesn’t issue country-compliant invoices anyways.
Short answer: still looking for a solution as well ![]()
