ActivityPub: Is publishing a post supposed to create a post in the AP feed?

(It might be time for an ActivityPub category?)

I’m playing with ActivityPub, on my Ghost Pro demo site. When I create a post in Ghost, should it be showing up in ActivityPub automagically? Or is there some way I cause it to do so, other than copying and pasting in the link?

Hey @Cathy_Sarisky,

When you publish a post in Ghost, it should appear in your Inbox (long-form content), rather than your Feed (short-form content).

Is that not the case?

Nope, I’m not seeing it there. Having said that, it took a while for anything to appear in either feed or inbox (and I currently have only one thing in inbox, despite having followed a bunch of folks), so maybe it’ll show up later?

Hm that’s curious.

I cannot reproduce the bug by doing the following:

  1. Enable social web (beta) lab
  2. Create a post
  3. Publish the post

The post appears in my inbox after refresh. Did you follow different steps?

Re: Inbox/Feed being empty after following a bunch of people

We currently don’t pre-populate the Inbox / Feed with old content from people you follow, only content that is published after you started following them. So Inbox / Feed do feel a bit empty right after following people, but they should get populated as soon as new content is published by people you follow.

If that’s not the case, would love to hear more!

Those are the steps I followed. I will message the site in case you’d like a look.

Update for anyone following along: Posts that are members-only and don’t have a preview line will cause this behavior.
