After 5 years and $3M, here's everything we've learned from building Ghost

Last week marked the fifth anniversary since the Ghost Kickstarter campaign which started it all.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at

Hey everyone! As of last week, Ghost is now 5 years old  I wanted to share a bit of an update on how far we’ve come and everything we’ve learned along the way. Hope you enjoy!

Good article. Ghost is a really interesting kind of project.

Cheers Juan! Let me know if anyone has questions, too

Great write-up! It’s always interesting to hear how things are going behind the scenes.

What is the general breakdown between corporate vs individual blogging? You can answer in whatever metric you think is most relevant.

Do the large corporate blogs typically opt for Ghost(Pro), or provide their own in-house hosting?

I really like Ghost and the direction you’re going with it. Just wanted to say thank you for this great product!!

Thank you for building Ghost and also working hard to make this a great community.

Great write up. I am a fan. I wish I could (or had the talent to) contribute to the project, but I am glad to use it.

Can’t believe I’ve been missing Ghost for so many years during my entire marketing career (truly is a ghost…). I’ve uncovered Ghost only a month ago and just can’t help admiring it. So fast, so much more about writing rather than site building. Can’t wait till next vacation to have a deeper dive into all the staff. Meanwhile started studying the help center. By the way, do you have an extended video walkthrough of the hosted version admin?

The hosted version admin is exactly the same as the open source admin unless you’re referring to something else?

unless you’re referring to something else

That was exactly what I meant. Thanks!

One more question if you don’t mind it in this thread: How do I sign up for Ghost newsletters? Would be one of those emails I can’t wait to open)

You can sign up to Ghost’s Publisher Weekly here:

You can also sign up for developer updates here:
