forum.ghost.org does not allow replies to closed topics.
I think this is a very bad approach to building a knowledge-base. This way, if someone has additional information to add to a topic for future posterity, then that person basically has to create a new topic. This way a single issue will become fragmented and covered in multiple forum posts, which aren’t even linked to each other.
Let me give an example.
Today I had to rename my ghost installation directory. Unfortunately, this is a royal pain to do with Ghost but luckily there is a forum post on this topic. The post is incomplete however. Being a fan of open-source and helping-each-other-out I’m willing to expand upon the answer so that others who run into this issue can save a few minutes of their time with trial and error. So I create an account with this forum and then…alas, I cannot add to the topic because “This topic was automatically closed 14 days after the last reply. New replies are no longer allowed.”
I’m not really interested in “why” this policy is in place and I don’t think there’s much of a point in starting a long discussion about it, but I figured the easiest way to bring this to your attention would be…a forum topic.
