Changing URL (non-Pro)

Hi!

I’m just using regular ol’ Ghost. Made an account last night. I screwed up when typing the title (which also ended up as the URL), but I could’ve sworn it said “don’t worry, you can change this later” or something to that effect.

Well, I’ve successfully fixed the website title, but it isn’t updating my url. Anything I can do that isn’t “go Pro and buy a domain name”?

I considered also just deleting my account and starting over, but I can’t find a way to do that, either– only the “delete all content” button.

Thanks!

“Ghost Pro” is the term used for any hosting service provided by the Ghost Foundation, which hosts sites at __.ghost.io (or your custom domain, if you buy one, but your admin panel will still be at __.ghost.io.

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘regular ol’ Ghost’, exactly. I’m guessing you’re currently on a free trial? Be aware that when the trial expires, you’ll need to pay up for hosting if you want to keep your site online. Or maybe you just mean you’re on the starter plan. Which is limited, but totally fine if it meets your needs.

Assuming you ARE on Ghost Pro / your site is ___.ghost.io… You should be able to change your url by going to your-site-url.tld/ghost and then clicking the “Ghost Pro” link. I believe there’s an option there (maybe under the domain tab?) to change what subdomain you’re using.

Website title and your subdomain aren’t related – you can change either at will!

Yeah, I’m just on the starter plan. No plans to upgrade, I don’t expect anything I’m putting here to take off. Just want to reach a specific batch of people.

Hey @rosewraith I have the exact same problem.

Did you manage to change your URL? I haven’t been able to find any way to change it.

It’s available under the Ghost Pro link, only to the site owner (not to admins)
