Clicking in email re-directs to Youtube, not website - any work around?

Yeah I was tinkering with this yesterday, it appears it might work. It’s A LOT of work to create 2 posts that go up simultaneously, one with static images (so it looks like the real post) that gets emailed but redirects to the PUBLISHED but not emailed post.

But it does appear to work. I 1000% appreciate the work-around and your time/expertise. I wonder if it’s possible to put it on the dev teams radar as a feature so we can all control the appearance of emails without hacking together a fix?

I’m not on the core team, but you could add an idea to the Ideas category here for an “HTML-only card”.

We at oneahead.com would also love a long-term fix for this. When we were on Substack, I believe they managed to implement a fix that would send people who click on YouTube videos in emails to our Substack with the YouTube video already playing.

Or at the very least allow us to set a flag or custom HTML that would make the videos in the email entirely unclickable?

Yeah, that’s an issue for me too. I actually host my videos on sprout video for other purposes, and then embed them in the post. But, I think I’ll just do an email only post, and point to the full post. Even with the sprout video embed, it inks to the video on the actual sprout video website, and I’d rather it go tot he ghost post. I wish we change that feature. Maybe I’m missing something.
