Custom language translation

To create custom translation can i just copy the relevant language from github and paste it in the installation directory?

That will not work for portal, search, comments, or the sign up form, which have build steps and load separately from cdn. (You’d need to download the source, make your changes, then do a build step.)

I think it will work for newsletter and ghost translations (if you put them in the right folder within the install and restart ghost), but not 110% sure, so try it before you make a bunch of edits. :)

By the way, if you’re asking because the translations need improving or have errors, a PR to fix them would be very welcome!

It’s not about improving, in some places there is not tranlation at all.

If it’s the theme, you just need to edit the theme. If it’s coming from the core of ghost or one of the apps, all strings should be available to translate, but that doesn’t mean that someone has contributed the translation yet. Contributions of missing translations would be most welcome! Here’s a link. (It is focused on portal, but it’s the same directions for everything but the theme.)
