How can I get notified when ghost updates are available?

I have added a smtp email to the config but don’t know how to test it. I have not received any emails for the recent ghost updates. Is this a feature that is available? How can I test my email?

Using a free Github account, you can subscribe to “Releases only” for the Ghost repo and receive notification when new releases are made.
