I want to send emails to my free members only, but can't

After writing the post, I try to select the my free member tier, which I believe should be under Post Settings > Post Access > Specific Tier(s). It is not there. My two paid tiers are available to select, but the free tier is not listed at all. I double checked to see if it is available in the SIgn Up Portal, which it is. You can see in the screen shot the two tiers I can select, and the free tier is missing. I am using the theme solo (v1.0.0).

Hello Dane,

The ‘Post access’ setting that you are referring to is actually for the post in general, not just for the specific channel you choose to publish (email, web, etc).

Ghost has a concept of newsletters for sending posts. Each newsletter has it’s own mix of subscribers, both paid and free. You can specifically target your audience from the Publish button.

To achieve your goal of only messaging free subscribers:

1. Choose channel as “Email only”
2. Choose a newsletter, and select “Free”

This will not publish the post on the web, but will only send an email newsletter to all free subscribers of your chosen newsletter. :)
