Paywalling emails to free subscribers?

Hello there,

Substack allowed me to send paywalled posts to free subscribers. I recently added a public preview to a post I sent to my free subscribers, thinking it would do the same thing. In fact, it removed the paywall and everyone got to read the full post.

Any idea on how to send paywalled posts to free subscribers? It’s a good nudge to show them what they’re missing.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

I wrote a post on this recently:

TL;DR - unless something has changed recently, IF you have a public preview added to a post with access set to paying members only, your free members should get the preview, followed by a CTA.

Note that if there’s no public preview set, the free members get the whole thing, regardless of the post access setting.

Can you quadruple check that the post has a public preview line added, and that the access is set to paying members?

And which version of Ghost? :)

Hey Cathy, thanks for the prompt response! I’ll try that on my next post, this Thursday and let you know :)
