Invite emails stopped working suddenly

The issue is that the invite emails have stopped working suddenly.

I am not using any third party service for mail and is using the mails sent through command line. Everything worked for months but not suddenly, the invites are failing with the message:

Error sending email: Failed to send email. Please check your email settings and resend the invitation.

Could someone guide me in understanding the source of the error and fix it?

In the logs (ghost logs), I do not see any error message related to this.

Assuming you’re running on some sort of VPS, it sounds like your host possibly changed something underneath you to prevent direct mail.

Two options:

  • reach out to your host
  • setup a 3rd party mail service like mailgun

The latter is probably the best way to get a quick and long-lasting resolution.

Thanks for getting back

The Ghost instance is installed on DigitalOcean droplet. I will contact them regarding this issue and will consider setting up mailgun.
