I may have different topics to cover on the website, not all tags will appeal to everyone.
What if a member only wants to receive items of a specific tag / category by mail when they subscribe ?
It might not work by tags, but different newsletters for different topics might be ideal for that:
What you need to do as an author is simply selecting the correct newsletter when sending out a new post. There’ll be a dropdown for that when you publish a post.

You can add labels with your subscribe form (if custom) when members subscribe, and it’s possible to choose specific member labels to send to. But it’s not possible for members to edit their labels later, so Jannis’ proposal to use separate newsletters is probably the best option today.
