So I am wondering what other options are out there where one can import and export ones content with the same ease as with Ghost. I have a blog hosted on Substack that I would want out of there but am not sure which way to go. I have another site on Ghost Pro already.
There are some features at Substack that I really like that are not available on Ghost so I’m more looking at something with more community features, course building and also image friendly (Substack notes are but that content won’t follow one if one download ones content…)
But I cannot seem to find anything out there except Ghost and part of Substack that is so easy to join in on or sign off from if you know what I mean
So, any tip, if any, where to look is highly appreciated
I still wonder about this? Are there any places where one really own ones content and can move it around with ease as when using Wordpress, Ghost and Substack?
If you read my first post you would also know I am asking for a reason and am looking for something community like
I’m not sure if understand your question. Are you looking for a service that can move your Substack content to Ghost by covering the missing parts of Ghost, to not lose any features or content because of lack of the features on Ghost?
I would want something where one can export and importa content if things go down the drain. I.e. if one use Mighty Networks or Patreon for a community of some sort (at least I cannot see) how one get articles and such out of there like in Wordpress, Ghost, Substack and such. Which means if one stop all efforts are gone like one was sitting on Instagram
You can see the Open Subscription Platforms website for a listing of which platforms are open and which are closed:

Thank you so much for this link.
Not everything I looked into is on the list, but it does make it painfully obvious most providers out there are just really expensive “facebook groups” cause one basically own nothing. Same thing with cloudhosted webshops
For a project that is on the drawing table [for a long time] Substack and now Podia does make most sense.
Substack is a love hate relationship…
The newsletters look awful on a phone, one cannot choose to publish to app and not mail, the editor sucks [praise Ghost] and notes, which is a brilliant tool is out of reach when exporting content which makes YouTube so much better for videos and even photos/short posts using the post function
If you’re going to substack, you should absolutely spring for the custom domain. Otherwise, when you decide to move again, you’ll lose any traffic going to yoursubdomain.substack.com .
