Possible issue?

Hay, Im not sure if this is the right section but I just wanna say I enjoy using Ghost but there seems to be a recurring possibly problematic temporary? Problem

It seems when you have the direct link to an image within a paid/premium post in this software you can still access it. Is this something that can be prevented or has been?

well thanks for not answering I guess lol

Hey @CozyCreator , sorry to have missed your first post. If you’re in managed hosting, you always have the option to reach out to your host directly, as well. This is a community support forum, and while some members of the Ghost.org dev team and some other Ghost hosts do pop in occasionally (some more than occasionally), the forum is mostly other Ghost users, self-hosters, freelancers, and volunteer moderators/contributors like me. I try to answer as much as I have time for (because I hate seeing questions go un-answered), but fielding questions on the forum doesn’t pay my bills, and sometimes I miss something.

So, with that said:

Ghost doesn’t restrict access to content in the /content folder, including files and images. It doesn’t allow directory listing of those files, but if someone has the direct link, they can access it.

Posts themselves can be easily restricted to members-only, paid members-only, or specific membership tiers – that’s in the right side menu of the post editor (just below where you’d set tags and authors). But the content folder is not – they’re files, and not checked for access against the database or anything.

Thats kind of hard when your site revolves around putting images behind a paywall
