Problems With Membership Signups

Forgive me if I’m doing something wrong here, but not sure how to fix this.

I’m using The Aspect Theme from @PriorityVision

Not sure if it’s theme issue, or my settings.

I’ve done a loom video to show you.

I’m simply setting posts to different membership access points, however, when I click the subscribe button, the membership page displays for literally no more than a second then defaults to some dark overlay membership sign up which offers totally free access? Not what I want!

Set two posts to different access points and the same happened.

Is this a theme issue or me?

My site is being worked on currently and not live and I can’t set live till this is fixed. Costing me time … hope can fix soon.

These are my membership settings.

I’ll check mine I have not walked all the way into it yet

When I enter my page from incognito and hit subscribe and select a paid tier, it takes me straight to Stripe for payment – does not require me to sub on the free tier first

I do have free tier enabled on the signup and stripe connected

Is your payment method connected already? I guess it has to be for you to design the paid tiers but I wonder if it’s not connecting properly and defaulting to free signup but ***** do not take my word for it ive only been here a few weeks also learning… just saw you’re in a pickle

I had it ticked and unticked - same result.

I have not played with that theme but the Portal I would expect to be pretty consistent between at least the native themes

Premium themes seem to have some modifications

Did you check if there is a github for that theme

If you are on Pro we have email support – i have not tried it yet… this forum is hit and miss I think depending on the type of question and who is around but when someone can answer here it’s very helpful

If that’s a premuim theme you can also check with the provider if it’s supported – sorry I didn’t look into it before responding

I may have to jump off here but I hope you can sort it – I suspect there is a logical reason that is happening I just can’t work out exactly where in the process as I’m not familiar enough

Maybe if you can walk into the free signup and see if you still get the same problem when you select a paid plan from inside the membership envelope that will give you more data for when someone can reply

You might be able to enable the classic ghost Portal on your custom theme I just don’t know what to change to make that go… there may be some documentation somewhere out in the wild

I’m sorry i know it’s frustrating when you are in a crunch; I just switched back to a simple native theme as well because of some surprises in a Premium design that will take us much longer to work around and I didn’t see on the tin so to speak – we ran into them after the fact and had to pivot

Hopefully you can find something or find the fix for this

Cheers i’m off here now

Hey @weemediahq , I’m not the theme creator, but it looks like there’s a conflict between portal (Ghost’s membership popover) and the theme’s built-in pages. It’s likely a fairly easy fix. (The button to upgrade is causing the portal window to open /and/ trying to navigate you to the theme’s custom sign-up page. Only one of those should be happening.)

I’m sure the theme creator will be eager to fix your problem. I’m not sure how long you’ve given them to respond, nor do I know what timezone they’re in. It’s possible this is a one-person shop and they are sleeping, so if you haven’t already given them 24 hours, maybe don’t drag them here just yet, ok?

Hi @weemediahq,

I apologize for this issue and its incorrect behavior. We should display our custom Membership page instead of the basic Sign Up form when users click the “Become a member” buttons, particularly when Tiers are configured in the Ghost Membership settings.

I’ve seen your email requesting a refund rather than waiting for a fix. While we can offer a quick fix, I’ve processed your refund to avoid any further inconvenience.

We typically respond within 2 business days, but we’ve answered all your previous messages within 24 hours.

Since this isn’t Ghost-related, we can continue our discussion through direct support instead of the Ghost forums. I’ve sent you an email.
